The exercise provides you with a graphic representation of the respective “Highs and Lows” in your professional and personal development. Try to find a time or place ideal for reflection.
Here is how it works:
1. Plot the important milestones that stand out in terms of your development as a leader.
2. Create a list for “Your Highs,” and jot down some remarks that describe your decisions, contributions, recognitions, and awards that you would classify as defining moments.
3. Create a list for “Your Lows,” and list defining moments that you see as setbacks, disappointments, etc.
4. For each moment, try to identify how you were feeling and what you were thinking at the time.
5. Make sure your list is complete in respect of both your highs and lows. Be careful not to forget anything!
6. Then, plot both your Highs and Lows on a timeline similar to the example above.
The exercise will help you reflect on the importance of each defining moment and provide new insights into who you are, where you are today, and where you want to go next.
Finally, this work is far more powerful when done together with others. Find someone you trust to discuss the process with, or get in touch with us.
